On Saturday, October 8, 2014, Windwood Family Services will hold the first annual Pigskin Palooza at The Barn at Mixson from 2 to 6 p.m. Taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather in the Lowcountry, this special outdoor event, sponsored by Metro Exchange Club of Charleston, will raise money and awareness for Windwood Farm, a unique residential treatment campus for at-risk youth.

“One in every four girls and one in every six boys is a victim of sexual abuse. Windwood Family Services has what it takes to educate and heal the open wounds caused by this type of abuse. We are there to help those victims who otherwise don’t stand a fighting chance,” says executive director Debbie McKelvey. “The Pigskin Palooza, will be a festive outdoor event with live music, family-friendly activities and food for a great cause. 100% of all event proceeds going to the boys of Windwood Family Services.”

Throughout the event, guests will enjoy complimentary bites by Jim ‘N Nicks including oysters, Bar-B-Q, baked beans, macaroni and cheese and cornbread. Cocktails by Firefly Distillery, craft beers from Palmetto Brewery and other adult beverages will be available for purchase. Entertainment and family-friendly activities include live musical performances by celebrated South Carolinian bands The Josh Brannon Band from 2 to 4 p.m., and The Louis D Project from 4 to 6 p.m.; complimentary canvas painting classes and face painting by Fear No Easel; kids’ jewelry-making classes; a petting zoo; and a jump castle. Two 60” LED televisions will also be playing the day’s best college football games.
